All libraries in the Monroe County Library System are now closed to the public. We are at a unique moment in time as we strive to understand how COVID-19 may affect the communities in which we live, work and play. Please know the members of the Monroe County Library System take seriously our responsibility to protect our employees, their families, and our library users during this uncertain time.
We wish to inform you of the steps we have taken thus far:
1. Borrowing Current materials borrowed will now be due on May 18, 2020, allowing you to retain the materials in your possession without fines. We encourage you to keep all materials borrowed until notified otherwise.
2. Holds Physical hold expiration dates have been extended until further notice. When libraries re-open holds will be filled in order for each library location.
3. Collections Library user accounts with outstanding fines and fees (above $35.00) that would normally be referred to our collection agency will not be referred at this time.
4. Services Please continue to check with your local library for changes to services and limited remote services available.
During this time, we encourage you to utilize our online resources, particularly Overdrive, where the MCLS has increased resources. Overdrive maintains e-books, audiobooks, and magazines through its website and app.
Please also check with your local public and school libraries for other available online resources.
Libraries will continue to purchase and make available more e-books and e-audiobooks for Overdrive, which can be accessed through libraryweb.org, or by clicking here. Streaming video content is available through Hoopla, a product provided by some MCLS locations, including the City of Rochester, Gates, Pittsford, and Greece.
Check your local library website for more information about your community library.
