This RIT student-curated exhibit celebrates over 50 years of excellence within the African, Latin, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) community within RIT and honors the students who have shaped and sustained it. What began as an effort to spark new interest in the RIT Archives and celebrate diversity at this institution has grown into a case study in the enduring power of community and the vital role of diversity in student life. The years displayed are approximately when each organization on the timeline was founded. While some gaps or inaccuracies may remain, this work lays a foundation for others to continue uncovering and honoring RIT’s rich history of diversity.
