ImagineYOU

ImagineYOU is an innovative 21st century digital learning space based on the principles of Connected Learning. ImagineYOU was created to connect young adults, books, media, mentors, and institutions throughout the City of Rochester in one dynamic space designed to inspire collaboration and creativity. This project was made possible by the generous support from John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library.

The ImagineYOU project is a crucial step in motivating and inspiring our city’s youth to learn and prepare for their future. Teens have the opportunity to work with dedicated mentors and local artists both individually and in teams to explore traditional library materials as well as cutting edge digital media equipment. These opportunities will allow them to explore their interests while stretching their imaginations and developing the digital literacy skills they will need to be successful in and out of school.

Central Library staff and youth mentors lead workshops and provide one-on-one work sessions to help teens build their skills and create digital projects from songs, videos, photography and podcasts. Teens learn how to use a variety of state-of-the-art technology and digital equipment, including videocameras, drawing tablets, and video and photo editing software. ImagineYOU at the Central Library also provides an in-house recording studio where the teens can record their music with the help of a professional Studio Engineer.
