Call for Programmers and Programming

The Arts & Literature divisions are seeking to expand public program offerings. We are looking for in-person programming for both lecture and interactive craft-type programing, including artists in residence. Programs in a series are welcome, as are seasonal programs.

Considerations

  • The number of patrons who can attend craft programs at one time is typically 12 to 15, lecture attendance is at the presenter’s discretion
  • A lecture space for up to 100 people is available
  • Most programming is booked weeks to months in advance – we need time to reserve a space, have marketing materials created and distributed, and to publicize the event
  • Programming is typically scheduled for evenings and Saturdays
  • Central Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed Saturdays July through Labor Day)
  • Programs must be completed at least 15 minutes prior to closing
  • Although these are paid opportunities, we are unable to reimburse travel costs, mileage, or food
  • Programs that have the cost of materials included in the overall price are eligible
  • The library does not charge patrons for any programming or permit programmers to charge participants for any portion of the program
  • All accepted proposals will require presenters to have a W-9 on file with the City of Rochester and to complete additional paperwork
  • Reimbursement is by check mailed to the presenter after program completion

We encourage proposals submitted with the following components:

  • Summary
  • Title and overview of the program
  • Number of patrons who can attend
  • Goals
  • Requirements
  • Facility needs (tables, chairs, etc)
  • Cost per program, including materials

Presenter Bio

  • A brief resume or other references/testimonials are preferred
  • Photos of previously completed work are appreciated if available
  • A link to a website or social media presence is also encouraged

Submission of a program for consideration does not guarantee acceptance. If your proposal is selected, you will hear back from a librarian

Please submit all materials in PDF format to Artlitref@libraryweb.org

We look forward to hearing from you!
