Director’s Welcome

Libraries today are very different than those you might remember from your childhood, even if that “childhood” occurred in this century! Sure, libraries still provide the traditional books, movies, music, and magazines, but Rochester’s libraries offer much more than you think. Did you know that you can borrow all these things from our libraries?

  • Toys
  • Fishing Poles
  • GPS Units
  • Sewing Machines
  • Ukuleles
  • Streaming audio, video & ebooks
  • E-books

The Rochester Public Library of today is all about Education & Engagement, Sustainability & Resources, and Stewardship & Curation. We will help you live a rich and fulfilling life by providing access to lifelong learning experiences for all ages. We will also help you navigate all sorts of things, such as:

  • Learning how to use a computer or other technological device
  • Creating a resume and applying for a job
  • Notarizing documents
  • Filling out government forms
  • Selecting books for yourself and/or your children
  • Learning how to start a small business
  • Earning your high school diploma

These are just a few of the things Rochester libraries offer, and all at no cost to you. I hope you will make time to discover all the things Rochester libraries can do for you, either by browsing through this website, or visiting one of our 11 locations in the City of Rochester.
