Health Central has partnered with the University of Rochester School of Medicine to be a location for students in the Community Health Improvement Course. All fourth-year students must take the course and spend one month at various agencies in the community. The goal of the course is for students to understand the importance of community strategies to improve population health. In addition, it increases understanding of other populations through first-hand allowing students to gain empathy. So far students have worked on marketing Health Central, identifying clinics for patrons without health insurance, created Jeopardy! style games on a variety of topics, conducted blood pressure screenings and educated patrons about the importance of skin cancer screenings.
