Rundel Memorial Building North Terrace: An Outdoor Gathering Space

The Rochester Public Library and City of Rochester recently completed renovations to the Rundel Memorial Building’s North Terrace, located on the southwest corner of South Avenue and Broad Street and bordered by the Genesee River. As a result of the renovations, the North Terrace has become a vibrant public space that celebrates the history of the Rundel Library and the Erie Canal aqueduct. Amenities include an ADA accessible river theater and tiered seating overlooking the Genesee River, pavement bands and features (interpretive of the historical canal and subway rails below), planters and seating, terrace lighting, and a public art installation.
