There is a growing interest in the medicinal properties of Cannabis. This has encouraged new scientific discoveries that now are addressing the question of what are the body’s responses to compounds produced by the plant (cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids) and the mechanism of action that these compounds have in evoking medicinal versus toxic effects. With so many pharmacologically active compounds produced in Cannabis, validating the active pharmacological ingredient is the key endeavor. Keynote speaker Dr. Ethan Russo, a world-renowned cannabinoid researcher will set the context of the event by providing an overview of the composition, variability, and medicinal use of Cannabis. Presentations from experts that follow will address both full-spectrum and synthetic cannabinoids, their applications, goals for composition, therapeutic value, and manufacturing. The conference will conclude with panel discussion assessing the industry, medical perception, and the applications where there are strengths and limitations of each approach.
