Considering the recent challenging events that have gripped the nation and ushered in a new era of reckoning, a diverse team of librarians and staff collaborated to curate this collection of print and digital materials to serve as an educational resource for the community.
Throughout time People of Color, African Americans and all people of African descent have greatly contributed to every facet of this country. Although those achievements were often suppressed and rarely celebrated, these contributions are still woven into the fabric of this nation’s history and have shaped our nation into the cultural melting pot we know and love today. This guide is meant to highlight some unique resources and collections for our community; suggestions are welcome.
We acknowledge and celebrate these important contributions. We reaffirm our commitment to the community by continuing to serve as an institution of learning, providing equal access to information for all.
We welcome your suggestions and feedback; and we thank you in advance for working with us as we navigate these difficult times towards a more equitable and just world.
